Suspicious…

What has these people so up in arms? It’s a little perplexing, you’d have to say. They refer to health care legislation and the energy bill as evidence of a massive and sinister government attack on the capitalist system. I just don’t buy it; neither of those really stands to do much in the way of government takeover of the system, even if they do end up with a public option on health care most people anticipate that remaining a small player. I could go on, but let me just point out that government spending as a share of GDP has been pretty steady (with the exception of the bailout, which funnily enough they don’t mention even though that would seem to be a potentially legitimate point of contention) at about 35% for the past 30 years:

Government as a % of US GDP

Government as a % of US GDP

Well, it  isn’t the first time these people have gotten themselves all lathered up notwithstanding the facts.

So here’s the thing. Look at this:

And consider this:

What I see is white people, who are fundamentally *very* upset about the fact that a black guy is running the country. Let’s just put that out there. I mean really, what kinds of conversations do you think good ole Joe has behind closed doors.

So until such time as these idiots provide evidence that anything consequential they say is true, the presumption should be that they are motivated by misplaced anger and they deserve to be ignored and ridiculed accordingly.

What else can it be?
